The Gruffalo Experience - Ginger Mum Reviews

Amusing the children over the lengthy (longer every year!) Easter holiday period is no mean feat but sourcing new, fun things to do has become a bit of a labour of love for me as my youngest gets older I realise I don’t have many of these child friendly activity years left. I know that in the blink of an eye I will be reduced to no more than a chauffeur and a cash point as they grow in independence and prefer to do their own thing with friends.

So when I heard that Centre mk were hosting the touring attraction The Gruffalo Experience, I was delighted to review it for the blog. ย Even the hubby was happy to be included in this one ( he is very blog shy!) because what’s not to love about a great hairy creature with terrible tusks and turned out toes???

Prior to our entry time, we had Gruffalo related colouring fun, something the little kids (and the big kids) got stuck into.

A short wait later and our Gruffalo guide Rochelle called in her eager little mice!

We entered the deep, dark wood and were transported into the world of the Gruffalo, narrated by the animated and talented Rochelle. We met Fox, Snake & Owl and the kids eagerly learned information and answered lots of key questions on each of the animals in this modern classic tale.

Through the forest and into the depths of the foliage, we finally found the star of the show and the children’s squeals of delight when the main monster made his appearance were super cute.

Once the drama was over, we were led to a little wooden Gruffalo-themed (obviously!) play area which amused the kids while we grown ups took our place in the line for family photos with the poisonous-warted one!

We plumped for magnets with the photos in them and had to fend off Dominic’s pleas for every piece of Gruffalo merchandise on offer (always the awkward part!)ย but we made it through unscathed and didn’t have to purchase yet another pointless soft toy – phew!

We then had a spot of lunch and headed off to the next part of our adventure, a weekend in London with my parents, happy and contented in the knowledge that there may well actually be such a thing as a Gruffalo – but he is very sweet!

The Gruffalo experience runs until 10th April 2016.
