Kids rule ok! The little ones are the reason we get ourselves in a pickle about the latest, greatest gifts at Christmas time as we all hope Santa rewards our darlings for being so good all year round.
Each year, for me, it definitely gets hard to think outside the box and one up with great pressies that will excite them, educate them and be small enough not to take up the whole of the bedroom once unwrapped!
I’ve had a scour of the Internet so you don’t have to, and here’s some inventive inspo for you to help you with your good list.
1.
Dareway – The segway for kids. No longer an activity that you have to buy on groupon, bring the experience to your home, for your pride and joy. Kids will LOVE a break from bikes/scooters etc and love whizzing around on this funky number from Feber – my boys are going to love theirs – if Father Christmas brings them one, obviously….!
2.
Keep it cute this Christmas with The Magic Door Store’s gorgeous fairy doors and accessories. They don’t leave the boys out either, with Elf doors, there’s fun for everyone!
These are darling and I know SO many little girls who’d love to find this under the tree this year! Magic never goes out of fashion and I love how these doors capture the imagination and are the catalyst to infinite role play fun.
3.
Magformers – A multi-award winning invention, this toy I’ve recently discovered and is featured in my Kidtropolis Vlog, watch it here. I absolutely love these. They fire the imagination, are easy to use and best of all, no mess! There are so many options but for my youngest, I love this rocket set which will be easy enough for him to accomplish but thought provoking enough to spark his interest.
The big boys aren’t left out either – when they need a bigger, better build to challenge their creativity, this Power Gear set allows them to see their creations in motion. Making physics fun, my 10 year old is going to be thrilled when he tears this open this Christmas! I’m sure there will be a YT vlog on this one!
4.
Books…..Give them books to feed their souls…..I cannot tell you the joy it brings me to see my children curled up with a book! Britmums & Penguin have teamed up and sent me the cream of the crop this Christmas.
These are my fave kids literary picks this year and will be in the stockings of my friend’s children to keep them captivated over the festive season – no batteries required!
There’s a Terry Pratchett for my friends son, Oliver, who will love this comic delight, packed choc-full of tales of food fights, wizardry and ne’er do-well’s!
The Jacqueline Wilson Will go to her daughter, Amelia, who is an avid reader and will devour this tale of London poverty and an imaginative heroine – who says kids books need to be fluffy?
The Christmasaurus by Tom Fletcher is earmarked for my own little Dominic which will go in his Christmas Eve box and we will enjoy reading it together as he is just at that magical stage of learning to read and loves to pluck out words he can spell out to me.
My childhood favourites were without a doubt, the Famous Five and I have lovingly kept mine to bestow upon the children at the appropriate time. Books really are the gifts that keep on giving!
5.
Now what do you buy a football-crazy kid who already has all the collectors cards, figures, boots, strips etc anyone could possibly need? This Super11 game of course! I’m all about getting them away from their gaming and using their brains, whilst they don’t even realise they are doing it and this game, for me, is quite simply genius! My sons (4 & 10) both were immersed in it at Kidtropolis recently and I just knew Harry is particular would be gutted if Father Christmas didn’t deliver. He had it straight on his list and has talked about it loads! Using their footie knowledge, skills and strategy, but interacting with the family at the same time, this one is a winner in my team!
6.
As Harry’s biggest vice at the moment is the app Musically, he will love this Selfie Mic will have him singing like a pro. It comes with it’s own app bursting with his favourite songs so it’s going to be a melodic house this merry season!
7.
On that note, for the tweens, teenagers and us bigger kids, I am loving this newly launched Selfie Pro Thing which every self-respecting Selfie Queen absolutely NEEDS! In must-have rose gold, silver, gold and black, these are strictly for chic chicks and cool kids!
So on trend, these will turn your pics into papped as you look like a pro in any light.
8.
Thankfully past the stage of drawing on the walls, my two love a bit of art and they can create their own logos and designs and literally wear them with these funky tees from Wicked Uncle – just have the best ideas! Glow in the dark, ideal for all their festive fun times and all year round.
9.
A change from their hand-held consoles, go retro with this classic arcade game machine. Booming speakers, 240 multi-level games and fully portable, this blast from the past is gonna earn Santa some cool brownie points this year! Another gem from Wicked Uncle you can buy here.
10.
A favourite of Dominic’s, this uber cool glow in the dark Turbo Trax from Ideal World is super easy to put together so the kids can do it all and as well as zooming around, these sets can be added together to build hundreds of different track designs. With so many toys which don’t live up to their hype, this one we personally recommend as brilliant value for money and long term fun!
So there you have it, I hope I have given you muchas inspiration for your festive shopping. Order online tonight and you will be cruising toward Christmas with a smug grin on your face!
Have you got any of these on your ‘must-buy’ list? Have I given you some good ideas for gifts? I really hope so – do let me know!
