When ‘I See Me’ books got in touch to ask if Dominic would like to review one of their bespoke childrens books, I knew just the theme to choose! He adores reading, and being read to, which thrills me because there are very few greater pleasures for a parent than reading your sleepy child a fantastic bedtime story which sends them to slumber with lovely thoughts and dreams!
I’ve just undertaken a makeover on his bedroom, from little boy Ralph Lauren bears to a nautical pirate explorer vibe. I couldn’t bear to go for the obvious version of a pirate theme, so chose one which could evolve with Dominic as he matures and his tastes change too.
This brand is huge in America and has an army of celeb fans including Jessica Alba, Courtney Cox and Brooke Shields to name but a few! Well if its good enough for the A-list, it’s good enough for us, eh? Now launching in the UK, I was keen to test the hype of this range. With over 40 books to choose from and lots of opt-ins, I had to put my creative head on.
From the huge variety of options, I chose a pirate theme (his current obsession) and was able to add in a plethora of personal details to add to the magic of this tailored tale. Dominic’s name, his brother’s too, as well as the name of the village we live in, all went into the magical mix of this tale and plenty more besides.
Beautifully illustrated, this book took Dominic on the journey of his own personalised pirate adventure from Harry, which was made even more special for him when his big brother read it aloud to him. I’m always so overwhelmed when these two are together, being sweet, boys eh? Dominic became the star of the show in this beautiful book and was thrilled and amazed to see his own picture integrated inside his gift.
Melodious rhymes made the story flow beautifully and I think we possibly had to read this 5 times in a row (we’ve all been there?) on that first night as D was so taken with it!
We popped his new bedside lamp on and he cosied up to check it out for himself. I love this nightlight, created by Etsy whizz Jason of Onetwentywatts who created this custom lampshade entirely from my photos of Dominic’s bedding and cleverly recreated it in digital print, onto a bespoke shade! Totally pulls the new decor together! Jason can do this with pretty much any images, how clever is that?? It’s all about the uniqueness today guys. But isn’t it lovely to buy one off things which are completely affordable and at the same time, not seen on every shop corner you pass?
Dominic insisted on being a ‘real’ pirate and getting his accessories out of his treasure box to fit the book’s theme. Snuggling down in his new supersoft nautical PJ’s from Powellcraft Boutique, like his mum, he loves to match!
The ethos of I See Me is to increase a child’s self esteem by creating for them their very own personalised book celebrating their uniqueness. The mission is to show each child how absolutely special and unique he or she is. Well, job done I say!
Unsurprisingly, it has become our pre-bedtime staple and he also incorporates it when playing Pirates at various times, usually when I’m calling him for dinner! (Pirate food of course!)
I find these books ideal for giving as gifts as they are utterly unique and such lovely quality, So much so, I’m thrilled to say I’ve teamed up with ‘I See Me’ books to gift one lucky person, their own bespoke tale for the special child in their lives.
