Today feels like the first day of Spring. The weekend had a lovely little taster for us with Saturday basking in glorious sunshine and I was thrilled as I was out with my girls for our friend’s baby shower and we were all in sparkling form! Nothing like a burst of Vitamin D with your bubbles to make a girl smile!
Sunday, not so bright but the warmth was in the air. Those couple of degrees extra which just made the outside world that bit more inviting, the lighter layers just that bit more acceptable. It’s coming people and I couldn’t be more excited!
This morning the sky is ablaze again and the birds are in full song, I can see and hear the signs of Spring everywhere I look with people venturing outdoors once more to do those long neglected jobs sidelined by bleak winters. Neighbours lingering to chat instead of rushing back indoors to soak up the central heating. Washing billowing in gardens as nature is our tumble dryer once more. And woohoo, it’s ok to wear sunglasses 24/7 again – well I’ve never stopped through the winter but at least it is once more socially acceptable!
I was in the garden this morning, hosing down my spray tan tent (I also have a thriving spray tan company, read all about it here) and I revelled in the luxury of not just blasting for a few miserable minutes whilst shaking with biting cold and finding mini icicles on the end of my nose! It is now blowing happily in the breeze outside (albeit a choppy breeze – its only March after all!) drying off ready to get into action again later this week.
I feel the need to pop to the garden centre and infiltrate some Spring colour into my window boxes and there’s not too long to have to wait now for this blooming joy.
My youngest has been desperate to get back into shorts since the last day he clung on to them pre-winter and I cant wait either! No more morning mopes and tantrums when his trousers are ‘too scratchy’ or he ‘can’t move his legs’ in his cumbersome long-legged restrictors. Almost time for his shorts and tees, with a little hoodie or light jacket slung over for nippy moments, long fun days in the sunshine exploring and going on his beloved treasure hunts.
Scarily, the Easter holidays are a mere stone’s throw away and while the work side of my brain is filled with horror as I literally don’t get any done, the mummy side is excited for my two bounding around, meeting up with friends, egg painting, bonnet making (a quick trip to Hobbycraft and let the boys loose!) , not rushing around on school runs and activity drop offs and generally spending quality time together.
So today I just wanted to share my excitement for the coming months, the warmth, the friendship, the laughter, the lazy days, the fun, holiday times, birthdays, the Pimms, family get-together’s and everything else which comes with Spring and Summer.
Be happy everyone, the good times are a-coming!
What’s your favourite thing about Spring?
