When Harry turned 11 I was stumped as to how to mark it in a memorable way that we hadn’t already done or been to with someone else. Cue iFLY – well if hurtling around and free-falling after floating on a cushion of smooth air doesn’t create a day to remember – what does?
I love that you can do this from the age of 3, so many things are not possible for the little ones but this is fun for pretty much all of the family if you are brave enough!
My boy chose three of his friends from the footie team and picked a date. The stage was set, the goggles were on!
I was really nervous for them actually, it’s quite a daredevil thing to do, but they took to it eagerly and had a blast! It’s a great thrill for kids that age in particular age bracket – the tricky tweens – what is too cool and not cool enough? – but this ticked every box.
Ideal throughout the winter as it is indoors, iFLY is an all weather activity.
We headed to our local Xscape which is a house of fun with restaurants, activities, dry ski-slope ski-ing, cinema and of course, the home of iFLY in Milton Keynes.
We had a detailed check in, an informative video and then it was straight on to the main attraction.
I was concerned Harry would be hesitant but he got stuck right in and even took the additional charge option of the iFLY high fly, as did the others, where the instructor hangs on to the client and up, up and away they go. That definitely topped off the day for the birthday boy.
Afterwards, as they excitedly swapped anecdotes about the amazing time they had just had, we viewed the pictures iFLY took and loved having a permanent reminder of a birthday Harry will never forget!
