It is my pleasure today to host an inaugural guest post by my sons, Harry & Dominic today as their imaginations have been sparked by an amazing competition hosted by Tots100 and Dubai Tourism to win the family holiday of a lifetime. A somewhat AH-MAZ-ING competition which will shape two families’ memories FOREVER!
Over to the boys…..
We have wanted to go on our holidays to Dubai for the longest time now. Our Mum & Dad take us on lovely holidays but not as far away or as special as this one and we think Dubai has EVERYTHING we’d love as a family.
Dominic, my little brother is 4, but he acts more like my age and is very cheeky and daring so I reckon my bro and me would have the best time!
My mum makes vlogs for work and she showed us how to do it so D and I made one and we are really excited to share what we think the best bits of paradise would be. Hope you like it!
So a little more about our dreams….
WILD WADI WATERPARK
Everywhere we go, waterparks are where we spend the most time and we get SO wrinkly. But we have been watching videos on You Tube and the Wild Wadi waterpark is like the most amazing thing we’ve ever seen! I’m really brave and I learned to swim when i was three… I’d get Dad to take me on the most scary of them all!
KITE FESTIVAL
Me and my brother LOVE kites and we thought we have seen some pretty cool ones but when mum showed us the ones at the Dubai Kite Festival, we couldn’t believe our eyes! There were sharks and whales in the sky!! Also, horses and octopus where do you even buy these?? My brother Dominic made a cool paper kite at pre-school a few weeks ago and he says if we win he is going to take it and fly it there.
People come from miles around the world just to see this show and best of all, it is free!
BURJ KHALIFA
This is the tallest skyscraper in the whole world at over 828metres high and we would be able to actually go inside it and go to the top. How cool would that be? We would be on top of the world!
I don’t think my mum would like it as she hates high things but if we really try and persuade her we could I’m sure. Maybe if we take her shopping afterwards it would do the trick!
Other things we are super excited to do are go and all the supercars – Dominic calls a lamborghini ‘lambs & genies’ but I promised I wouldn’t tell you that part – oops. It’s ok, he can’t read yet.
We would love to win this family holiday, I’d like to treat Mum & Dad this time as they do lots of lovely things for us. So fingers crossed!
There you have it, my clever boys’ first foray into vlogging – I’m pretty impressed!
For me, the list of must-do’s are infinite but top would be the Souks, ski-ing (yes – it is really a thing in Dubai – you can do ANYTHING there!) and enjoying the pleasure of paradise.
So everyone has a chance to win in this amazing comp, as our blog post is an entry, but generously, Dubai Tourism are giving a SECOND dream holiday away the best comment on the winner’s blog post – what are you waiting for? There will never be shorter odds on winning!! It would be amazing so be able to give back to one of my loyal readers, good luck lovelies!
Have you been to Dubai? What were your highlights? I’d love to know!

Omg this is my dream destination unfortunately I’ve never been but it’s always been on my bucket list! How spectacular would it be to see one of the most iconic hotels! This place is a trip of a lifetime for me! Great blog post Hun great ideas! X
Ginger Mum
Good luck Leanne, it’s an amazing prize for 2 lucky families!

Ah what a brilliant oppertunity! As a family of 5 (with 3boys under6) we struggle to afford holidays, we get some great family time away in a caravan though so I cant complain. My hubby never stops talking about his holiday to dubai with ‘the lads’ years before we met, so it would be nice to finally see what he has been talking about, and make some decent memories this time lol.
Ginger Mum
Well, you never know this could be your lucky day Holly! Good Luck to us both!

Wow the Dubai fountain looks absolutely amazing! I would love to go to Dubai just to see that yet there is so much more all in one place – it is almost too hard to imagine so I will have to go there to find out for myself ? The beautiful beach beckons me, incredible concerts and entertainment, retail heaven and then relax and unwind by trying out traditional spa therapies at the hammam! The food in Dubai looks divine and I bet it is delicious. My husband would love the adventure sports, golf courses and falconry. There is something here for everyone. Dubai is my dream destination.
Ginger Mum
Mine too! What a competition! Good luck!

Excellent vlog – well done boys! It’s the colours of Dubai that really stand out for me and the warmth – you can almost feel it through the photos! I think kids would spend all their time staring around them in wonder. There’s so much for them to try – loads of unique experiences. How many people can say they’ve been skiing in the desert!? Good luck 🙂

I love how this is written from your children’s perspective! If I allowed my daughter to write one, it would probably be all about the shopping!!
Ginger Mum
Well it helps he is a boy and loves waterparks and cars lol. He is so into it, at 9 he is more savvy on this this than me!

I would love to take my grandsons on a Dream Trip to Dubai – a clean, safe, family-friendly holiday destination, with plenty of activities to choose from for any age range. As well as relaxing on the beautiful golden sand of JBR Beach with its warm, calm and shallow waters we would all enjoy a dune-bashing safari followed by a camel ride and BBQ dinner in a Bedouin desert camp.
We would visit the Dubai Museum in the Al Fahidi Fort to learn about life from a bygone era as a contrast to the amazing architecture of the modern city which we could view from the front or rear carriages of the driverless Dubai Metro system and then take it all in from the At The Top observation deck of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building.
The free and impressive Dubai Fountain water, light and music show can be watched from one of many waterfront cafes just outside the Dubai Mall. The malls in Dubai have many family attractions to choose from. The boys could try ice-skating, helped by the ‘penguin pals’, visit the Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo and also see the giant 155 million year old dinosaur skeleton (DubaiDino), all in the Dubai Mall.
The boys love theme parks and this summer Dubai will open the world’s largest indoor theme park – IMG Worlds of Adventure with four themed zones inside including Marvel, Cartoon Network, Lost Valley – Dinosaur Adventure and IMG Boulevard. This will be completely enclosed and temperature-controlled with 1.5 million square feet of entertainment space!
Our only problem will be going home with so much more left for us to see and do in beautiful Dubai
Ginger Mum
Sounds like an amazing plan!

Oh I just adore all the pictures your boys drew. Congratulations to them on their first vlog! I did not even dare mention the possibility of a trip to Dubai to my children. I will barely be able to cope with my own disappointment if we do not manage to visit this year! However, it is definitely on my list of places to visit. I thought it wouldn’t be appropriate until my boys were older, but having researched, I have to say, I was wrong. (And trust me, I don’t say that often!)
Visiting one of the water parks would be high on list. Probably Atlantis so we could do the Dolphin encounter as well. My littlest loves the beach, so we would have to visit there too. Kite beach looks amazing during the festival. My kids would be wowed!
I would like to experience some of the more cultural aspects. The Souks, Friday brunch and a safari into the desert.
There is so much to do in Dubai, for people of all ages, interests and abilities.
This is an opportunity for someone to win the holiday of a lifetime.
Good luck!

Great ideas…The foodie side of things would really appeal to us in Dubai…Al Mahara restaurant would be a must for us as a foodie family who has had so many foodie adventures including Noma and meeting Mary Berry, this would be the ultimate icing on the cake. Dubai seems to have the perfect recipe for a family holiday…A good spoonful of food, culture and history, a big scoop of fun, family and adventure, a drizzle of adrenalin, a large cup of architecture and a sprinkling of magic to make the perfect family holiday!

Oh the Kite festival looks fantastic. So many things to do in Dubai for all ages and budgets. I would love to head to the dessert for a safari. Ride a camel and eat under the stars. Magical!

The colours, the sounds, the scenery – what an amazing experience for children to enjoy! My son would love the ‘awesome’ police cars too and it’s those little details that they remember. They may not remember the tallest building in the world like we would but they will remember flying a kite so high or zooming down the speediest water chute. That’s what childhoods are made of and it looks like Dubai has it all.

Wow what a great vlog by these 2 kids. I must admit I have never thought of Dubai being a good place to take kids but I was very wrong.
You can hear their excitement in the writing and it is all very informative.
It’s great how they have researched Dubai. I think they more than deserve to go there.
Ginger Mum
Awww, Carolyn, thank you. I think they do too! They certainly worked very hard on it!

What a fantastic vlog and amazing opportunity for two very lucky families.
My husband and I have been married 8 years this year and have yet to take our honeymoon. Dubai was one of the places that was on the list for us to go. Such a beautiful place with lots of culture. I would be so excited to surprise my wonderful hubby with this.
Keeping my fingers crossed and sending out lucky thoughts to everyone else

Very good boys I think you would have fun in Dubai. I have three boys and one girl and I think they would love it too. There is so much to see and do, we’d be struggling to cram it all in. We’d have to have a ski, go to a water park and watch the amazing fountains and we’d love to watch the sun set over the desert together – that’s the stuff dreams are made of!
Good luck with your entry x

What a great video – and you are SO right, those police cars look totally awesome. I think if I was a police woman over there I would never go slow anywhere! Good luck with your entry x

Fantastic ideas, the kite festival does look amazing…all those stunning colours and shapes against a backdrop of blue, I can just picture it now!! Good luck with your entry. We’ve never been to Dubai and I am literally amazed at how much there is for families to see and do. I’m so impressed. We’d love to do a lot of the things you’ve mentioned in your post especially a visit to the souks (the writer in me is dying to get in there and absorb the atmosphere and the Instagrammer in me can just imagine the vibrancy of the colours) as well as a visit to the turtle rehabilitation centre for my daughter who wants to be a marine biologist when she grows up. But really, the list could just go on and on couldn’t it? I’m fairly confident that if we were lucky enough to go we’d fall head over heels and probably never want to leave again!

Love your vlog! You don’t get that in Milton Keynes but you certainly don’t get it in Durham either! I would absolutely love to swim with Dolphins in Dubai. This is a big wish and something I hope to do with my son one day! I would also love to visit Atlantis too as it looks like so much fun and I remember watching it in a film once and thinking, omg I have to go there!! I also would love to spend the day on one of their gorgeous beaches! Sun, sea and….cocktails!
